In this series of four jacquard
weavings the knot is used as a metaphor. The fisherman’s knots convey
the confusion of destiny. They have twisted shapes because they have been
undone. The raw colours of linen give the artworks earthly qualities. Julianna
Joos has used these shapes trying to express the ambiguity between crisis
and solution, death and freedom.
